I have worked in mental health for over 20 years with a focus on trauma recovery and am the owner, counsellor and consultant for MIND/shift Workplace Wellness & Counselling Services. I have always been drawn to work that provides me the opportunity to facilitate change in the lives of individuals. Apart from the individual counselling work I love, I also advocate for strong employee-employer relationships and promote the need for effective workplace mental health wellness initiatives. I bring a collaborative, compassion focused, strengths based perspective – meaning, I will help you identify the challenges that may be affecting your life today and build upon any and all strengths with the goal of fostering resilience and promote healing.

I am committed to professional growth as a counselling practitioner and keep up with current trainings and certifications in several relevant areas of interest and necessity. My most recent trainings include; EMDR for Military & First Responders, Parts work in Dissociative Disorders and Emotion Focused Couples Therapy for trauma survivors. I also have previous training in Anti-Oppressive practice; Seeking Safety, DBT (Level 1), Concurrent Disorders and Wellness Recovery Action Plan®(WRAP) facilitation.

I have walked the path of recovery and re-discovery at different times in my own life. I believe it has been my own lived experience with life’s challenges that help ground me with the ability to relate to you with a deep sense of understanding, empathy and compassion.

Allow me to share one of my many favorite passages from Brené Brown;

“Experience and success don’t give you easy passage through the middle space of struggle. They only grant you a little grace, a grace that whispers ‘This is part of the process. Stay the course.’ Experience doesn’t create even a single spark of light in the middle space. It only instills in you a little faith in your ability to navigate the dark. The middle is messy, but that is where the magic happens.

Let me help you navigate through the struggle and make meaning out of the mess in the middle.
